Alicante
Alicante: the city of sunny beaches and culture!
Situated on Spain’s Costa Blanca, it is a popular destination offering year-round sunshine and a vibrant mix of culture, nature and history. The city is known for its beautiful beaches, such as Playa del Postiguet and nearby San Juan Beach, which are ideal for relaxation and water sports.
Santa Bárbara
One of Alicante’s most iconic landmarks is the Castillo de Santa Bárbara, an imposing medieval castle perched high above the city on Mount Benacantil. From here, you’ll have spectacular views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea. You can reach the castle on foot, by lift or via a panoramic route.
beach, culture and more...
Stroll along the beautiful promenade Explanada de España, lined with palm trees and colorful mosaic tiles. This is the perfect place to enjoy the sea, local markets and cozy cafes.
Are you a history and art lover? There are several museums, including the Museo Arqueológico de Alicante (MARQ), which highlights the rich archaeological history of the region, and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Alicante (MACA), with an impressive collection of modern art.
Finally, a final recommendation. Discover the atmospheric El Barrio district, in the colorful old city center, with narrow streets and cozy tapas bars.
In short, Alicante has something for everyone, whether you come for the beach, culture or the lively atmosphere.
Tabarca
Tabarca is the only inhabited island in the Valencian Community and is located opposite the city of Alicante, 11 nautical miles off the coast and near the headland of Santa Pola. In fact, it is more than just an island, as it is a small archipelago that includes the islets of La Cantera, La Galera and La Nao, as well as the Isla de Tabarca itself. It is approximately 1,800 metres long and measures approximately 400 metres wide at its widest point.
Pirate Island
In the past, the shores were a refuge for Berber pirates and in the 18th century King Carlos III ordered the island to be fortified and a city built, which would house several families of Genoese fishermen held captive in the Tunisian coastal town of Tabarka. The walls surrounding the city have been officially declared a historical and artistic site and a cultural heritage.
Marine reserve
The island's waters have also been officially declared a Mediterranean Marine Reserve for their excellent quality and for the biodiversity of its flora and fauna.
Tabarca can be reached from the port of Santa Pola. In 25 minutes the ferry from Tabarca will take you there. You can buy your tickets online or at the port of Santa Pola.
